The past few years have unfortunately proved difficult for international travel, especially into Russia. However, if you have had your heart set on visiting Russia for a while, you might be able to accomplish that soon with the introduction of the single-entry e-visa to Russia starting today, 1 August 2023. The application process for the e-visa is fairly simple, with the entire process being available online. No additional invitations, confirmations of accommodation or documentation is required for the application process.
Eligibility for the E-Visa to Russia
If you are from one of the 55 countries on this list, you are eligible to apply for an e-visa to Russia. According to the Consular department of the Russian Federation's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, nationals of the countries on the list are able to apply for the e-visa 'for private or business visit, tourism, as well as for participating in scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic, sporting events and carrying out relevant communications and contacts.'
The e-visa will have a 60-day validity and travellers can stay up to 16 days in Russia.
The e-visa is valid for entry and exits through specific border crossing points. These include all ports of Moscow and St. Petersburg, ensuring a seamless journey.
Application Process
Applications for the e-visa may be submitted between four to forty days before the expected date of entry. The application for the e-visa starts on this website or on the Russian Foreign Ministry's mobile application. Firstly, you will need to create an account and verify it. Then, you will be able to log into the website and fill out the application. The application consists of a few sections, including personal details, details of your visit, contacts etc. Applicants will then need to pay up to USD$40 for anyone older than 6 years old.
